Attributes of a Skid Steer Compactor

Skid steer compactor attachments draw power from the loader’s hydraulic system, which can minimize the need to maintain a separate engine on the jobsite. The result is less prep time, fewer fluids to check and one less unit to service between shifts.

Depending on the attachment, features may include:

• Cab-operated control: Operators run the attachment from the loader cab, which can reduce the number of personnel needed in close proximity to open trenches.
• Offset drum designs: On models with an offset drum, this feature extends beyond the loader’s footprint, so operators can compact material tight against curbs, walls and sidewalks where larger ride-on rollers cannot fit.
• Quick-coupler compatibility: Switching from a bucket to a roller is quick, enabling your crew to keep multistep site preparation on schedule to meet project deadlines.
• Vibration isolation: On some models, shock mounts sit between the drum and the loader frame to dampen vibration. This design can help reduce operator fatigue on longer compaction runs.
• Versatile material handling: These attachments compact cohesive clay, granular soils and asphalt patch material, allowing you to complete multiple phases of a single project with one rental.

Projects Suited for Skid Steer Compactor Rentals

A skid steer compactor handles compaction work on tight residential streets and small commercial lots where full-size ride-on rollers are too large to maneuver effectively. That flexibility is particularly valuable for general contractors, utility crews, paving contractors and landscaping companies working against strict timelines in different projects:

• Residential and commercial building foundations: A properly compacted subgrade can help reduce settling under foundations and slabs. The compact footprint of a skid steer attachment lets crews work close to forms, footings and finished grading with minimal disturbance to surrounding areas.
• Utility trenches and drainage lines: Backfilling a trench with uncompacted material can lead to surface settlement over time. A skid steer compactor attachment can consolidate fill in utility trenches and drainage line backfill in controlled lifts, helping reduce surface settlement.
• Asphalt and road sub-base repairs: Our skid steer roller rentals handle small patches and road shoulder repairs where a full-size paving roller would be oversized and difficult to maneuver.
• Large-scale landscaping projects: Compacting subsoil layers creates a uniform base for retaining walls, hardscape features and grade-level site preparation. Consistent ground conditions help your team work more efficiently through multiphase landscaping projects.

Advantages of Partnering With MacAllister Rentals

MacAllister Rentals understands the demands of construction work and can help you find the right attachment for your model. Our rentals are available daily, weekly or monthly to fit your specific project timeline.

Additional benefits include:

• Access to well-maintained, late-model attachments: We inspect and service our rental units to ensure each attachment is ready to work. Our fleet comprises some of the latest models.
• A competitive edge on more bids: A skid steer compactor rental lets you take on compaction work that falls outside your owned equipment’s capabilities. This flexibility can support your growth efforts.
• Fewer logistics to manage: Moving owned attachments between sites requires insured trucks and trailers, and larger equipment can require oversize-load permits that add cost and planning time. Renting helps remove those transport and permitting logistics from your project budget.
